About M-Wiki

  • M-Wiki offers microstructural and fractographic image database for materials. Registered users can upload images related to material microstructures which will be approved by reviewers. Everyone can view the uploaded images and the related information.

  • The project “M-Wiki” was initiated in 2009 at the National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML) of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), India under the aegis of the Supra Institutional Project “Development & forming of performance driven special steels. Initially the emphasis was to develop a Web based resource for steel, later on the scope was broaden and other materials have also been included.

  • Integration of fractographic images to M-Wiki is taken up under the CSIR’s network project “Technology for Assessment and Refurbishment of Engineering Materials and Components (TAREMaC)”.

  • Inspired by the success of Wikipedia, this wiki based system for the development of microstructural and fractographic image database for materials has been conceived with the philosophy of open access information sharing amongst the materials research community.

  • Development of any database is a continuous process and requires regular updating which is only possible through collaborative participation of researchers. M-Wiki will provide the web resources through collaborative knowledge building for non-commercial purpose.
